The Tru Toss Soft Toss machine is terrific in practice sessions and in pre-game drills.  We use it so that the coach can focus on helping the hitter to correct issues with their baseball hitting technique rather than focus energy on conducting the drill and having to throw the ball.  We think we also improve the saftey of the practice by not putting the coach or soft toss thrower close to the swinging bat or ricocheted ball flying off of a fence (we recommend using a net, not a fence).  Click Here to read about the Soft Toss baseball drill in What is Soft Toss. Soft toss is a hitting drill that is performed in each of our practices, indoors or outside.  It allows hitters to simply focus on having great hitting swing mechanics without having the need to focus on hitting the ball from a live pitch.  It is amazing what can be accomplished through repetition of simply having your players perform a great swing time and again.  Soft toss is the drill that allows them to do it.  We have the coach stand about 15 feet behind the hitter and then at a side angle to get the best views of the swing.  We also videotape some of the swing sessions so we can show the player what is good and which areas need improvement in their swing.  We like to have soft toss swings, swings from a hitting tee and swings from live batting practice to compare so we can help the player to swing the same each time and in each situation.  This machine is a great aid to us in evaluation of our player's swings.
